Happy Monday dear friends...

It's fun to start the week with nice weather and a new creation when you are proud of it... It's my case today.
This artwork started with a sketch design was done to ensure it would respond to 2 challenges. It's so challenging for me to participate in those ... it really gets me to think out of the box...LOL!

Ok, enough of musing...

There are several picture due to all the details in this card!

EXPECTATION

Paper: Authentique, navy Basil and strips of hand made paper.
Inks: Ranger Distress Faded jeans, Antique Linen.
Fabric for under the nest
Stamps: Script: Hero Arts, Birds: Inkadinkado
Nest: Prima Flowers, Feathers, button, pearls, crystal sticker & letters.

If you look carefully you will see that Mama bird is still in the process of garnishing her nest since she has straw in her beak!

Art bookbinding part 2

Hello!

Me again but with a completely different type of artwork... On November 10, 2011 I wrote a post entitled " Art bookbinding" in which I mention that my commissioned work would be complete when I did the encasing box for the art book. Well it's done. The case is almost as much work as restoring and binding the book... LOL!
The outside of the case is in Nutbuck and the inside is suede.
I'm very happy with the results and the owner was also very pleased. This book will be exposed in the " Petit musée de l'imprimerie du Vieux Montréal". A museum dedicated to the conservation of all antique printing material and techniques.

Butterflies and CPS252

Hello my friends

This card has been created for the love of those colors and the embellishment. I love Prima papers it is so colorful and the designs are awesome.

Again I wanted to add a concertina butterfly and I managed to insert it in my card. Most of the stamping was done on the first layer and with Versamark and clear embossing. The inside and envelope were stamped with the same butterflies.

The dragonfly and the butterfly.

I have been in the creative mode since a few days.... I must say that after seeing Shirley's concertina butterfly I wanted to do one sooooooo I created a card around that theme!

A new toy...

Good evening!

One of the toys I had from Santa was this beautiful Sizzix & Hero Arts dies and stamps set. I love it and its easy to work with. First I did the die cut and then the stamping and Distress Ink water coloring. I double stamped my butterfly first on watercolor paper, second on acetate so I could add some clear wings to it.
I'm happy with the final result.

Inks: Ranger Peeled paint, shabby shutters, dried Marigold, Antique linen
Tattered Angels Glimmer mist gold, Diamond glaze
embellishments.

I'm back...

Hello to all of you!

First, I know I'm late .... but Happy new year!
After a real bad back problem, the Holidays and now a bad cold since the beginning of Jan. I'm finally starting to feel better.
Slowly but surely inspiration is coming back!

First I would like to show you some of my Christmas cards....... maybe they will inspire you for next year...lol!

These cards are simple and fun to give to little children as the snowflake and button
move across the opening band at the bottom!

As all teenages my granddaughter (11 years old) wanted money
for Christmas ......... so part of her gifts was place in this card holder card
with money as she wanted!

Watercolor Background.

Good evening!

I have playing quite a lot with those Mega stamps and

I love it.

On this one it's the background colors that were fun

to do....

I use watercolor crayons and then my water brush and dab water on the

crayon. I like the results.

I also used Tim Holtz die cuts to add an other dimension to the card!

Majestic Pine trees

Happy Monday my friends

Here is another card done with Impression Obsession Mega Mount.
In fact there is 2 stamps one for the Cloud background and one for the
Pine trees.

You can see a close up of the envelope unfortunately it's an old
stamp with no name on it!

Inks: Adirondack greens, blue
Ribbon, pine cone, tag.

The pine cone comes from my own giant pine tree...LOL!

Inside of the card was decorated with stenciled pine cones and branches.

Polished stone Sky

Good morning!

The week end is coming and I hope you will have a

good time! These trees are very similar to ones

I have in my area at this time of year.

Fortunately, I can pick the colors I want for the sky instead of

the grey clouds we've been having

these last days! I used the polished stone tech in

the back of my acetate on which I had stamped my trees

I love this technique... it always yield beautiful results.

Blue Christmas

Good evening!

I'm almost done with my Christmas cards... This one is for Mathilde my granddaughter of 6. She came this week end and look at all my card and said that this is the one she preferred because the little birdie was alone!!!

This card was so much fun to do.
I use my Mega Mount acrylic Block,
from Impression Obsession and got a perfect impression on the first try...
This big block looks very impressing but when you get the twist of working with it it's just incredible what you can do with those backgrounds.

Oh what a snow storm....

Hello dear readers

Well we are getting close to Christmas and I have been quite active the last few weeks... Creating which I love and shopping which I'm starting to hate... I guess I will become a Online buyer...LOL!

I had a lot of fun doing this card. I remember that my granny had some snow globe and I was very curious to know how they could put the scene under the water and it did not drip... LOL!

Well now I know except for the water I build up completely this snow globe from background to snowman and stamped globe and acetate for window... added some Glamour dust for effects... My snowman is in quite a snow storm!

Cherished Memories

Happy Saturday my friends!

When I saw these challenges I could not resist since they where about some of my favorite things!

Fashionable Stamping Challenge with "In Time gone by" and

Charisma Cardz Challenges with Lace and Pearls.

I love all that is Vintage so In time gone by was very exciting for me to plan I had a composition in mind.... God, it's never been so hard for me to come up with a final creation.... I started over 3 times... the paper were not right, the corlors were not god... so on, so on. When I decided to go with this composition I still had doubts... but finally I'm pleased with the results.

Lace and Pearls are some of my favorite embellishments. I knew all the long how and where I wanted to place it!

Sooooooo this is the final compostition:

I love playing with my brayer and inks ... and it inspired me to do this card. I loved the soft colors and thought they would be great for this beautiful stamp.

Art bookbinding

Good evening!

In a completely different order of artwork, I'm so proud to show you my first leather bound restored book...

It's is an history book relating to the first school of graphic art in America.

Hand made paper for covering and ending pages.

When the preserving box is finished (yes, yes I'm working on it) the book will be showed permanently at the " Le petit musée de l'impression " in Old Montréal. I took this very seriously (I'm always serious LOL); our friend is the one of the administrator of this museum.

I hope you can see the detail of the " Gutenberg "

cut out.

And the gold lettering.

It is also an important part of restoration to keep the original spine and cover

(if it is in good condition).

Restoration of book is a passion, but very delicate and detailed work... I don't think can do dozen of those in a year... but when done it is soooooooo rewarding to hold this artwork in your hands and think that because of you it will last for another 100 years at least!!!

Like many of us my favorite time of year is Fall.

I love the smell of leaves after the rain.

Most of all I love the palette of color Mother nature arranges for us during that season!

I was not hard for me to do this challenge. This week we had to use leaves and the beautiful fall palette.

Good morning!

Where are having real fall weather since a few days, rainny, windy(very) and cool. So what better than staying home and working in my studio on this second card which I created for " Stamping Queen sketch Challenge". It was fun and at first look seemed quite strait forward but when I started doing my draft layout ... all sort of idea where going through my head... So I ended up doing something completely different than what I had first thought of! I guess that what we could call creativity... LOL!

Here is the sketch.

Hello my friends

It's bizarre I can't remember the name of this technique....I know for certain that it's from Technique Junkies but can’t find the main tutorial!

In a few works you stamp with Versamark and emboss with clear powder and then you add color with sponged inks... Anyway it's easy and gives great results...! I like it very much, especially when I can’t find a back ground paper that goes with my main image.

J'ai eu beaucoup de plaisir à réaliser cette carte, j'aime jouer avec les papiers, les étampes et les décorations.

Aussi, je voulais expérimenté la rosette de papier qui soit dit en passant est très facile à faire.

Cahier de cuir Nubuck leather book

Ce petit cahier de 18cm x 16 cm a été travaillé avec 2 peaux de cuir. Entre les peaux j'ai collé des nervures et ensuite il a été mis sous presse ce qui a créé les effets que vous pouvez voir.

J'ai choisi le point pamphlet pour coudre les pages du cahier. Un bouton, fait à partir du cuir brut de la doublure intérieure, sert de fermoir avec les courroies.

This small book of 7inches by 6 inches was done with 2 layers of leather. In between I have adhered leather strips and then it was placed under press, to create the effect you can see.

I have chosen the Pamphlet stich to sew my inside pages. The fastener was done with the same leather as the inside cords where added to finalize.

Lorsque j'ai acheté cette étampe j'avais déjà en tête la carte que je ferais avec! J'adore les paysages et encore plus avec cette technique utilisant le "Brayon en caoutchouc (Brayer)". Les couleurs ont bien collaboré. J'espère que vous verrez bien les différents tons de vert. J'ai rehaussé un peu les branches avec mon crayon blanc afin de donner un peu de relief à mon image qui est très dense. Le fond de ma carte a été fait avec la technique de pochoir. Que pensé d'autre que " Paix " quand on regarde ce paysage?

I love scenery and trees... When I bought this stamp I already knew how I would work it.
I used the " Spectrum roll technique my way " for the background and stamped my image on it. I also used a bit of my white marker to add a little depth to the composition, I hope you can see de many shades of green the brayering came up with. The background cardstock was done with a stencil in different shades of green

Depuis 1 ans maintenant je suis inscrite à des cours de restauration et reliure d'art à l'atelier la Tranchefile et je suis aussi des cours chez The Owl and the Pussycat en Floride lorsque j'y séjourne en hiver.
Cette activité est en voie de devenir une aussi grande passion pour moi que la fabrication de cartes artistique.

Since a year now I take classes on Art Bookbinding and Restoration at La Tranchefile and I also take art books & journal classes at the Owl and the Pussycat in Florida during the winter. Is this passion about to top cardmaking??? I don't think so it's 2 activities that I can alternate between and even combine in some occasions!

Ce livre de 1925 sur la vie de Marguerite Bourgeois a été restauré
(c-à-d défait et recousu) complètement et une nouvelle reliure a été faite.
6.50 x 9.00 couverture en partie simili cuir et papier.

Ce livre appartenait à ma mère. Peux importe ou nous déménagions ce livre suivait toujours. Quand ma mère est décédée c'est un des souvenirs d'elle que je tenais le plus à conservé. Je n'ai jamais su ce qu'il représentait pour elle.
This book has belong to my Mom... when ever we moved the book would follow.
When she past away it is one of the souvenir I keept even though I don't know what it represented for her.

restauré et je lui ai fais une nouvelle reliure .

A 19th Century romantic sketch of Québec.

Complete retoration and bookbinding was done on this beautiful book. It is competely bilingual
and contains 50 sketches & and descritption of original painting of that era.
11.00 x 9.00 wax cotton cover with press sketch.

Les 2 cahiers suivants sont des livres blancs, c-à-d. des livres qui peuvent servir de journal, de cahier note ou de cahier à esquisses. La façon de faire est très différente de celle mentionnée précédemment. Ces cahiers sont très décoratifs et ont pour la plus part des coutures apparentes qui font partie de la décoration du cahier.

Ceux ci ont été réalisés à partir d'atelier suivi chez "Ther Owl and the Pussycat" en Floride.

The next 2 books are what we call white books, meaning that they are for journaling, notes and could serve as sketch book. The way of making these is very different from the ones seen above. Theses are more decorative books and most of them have an apparent seem..

These books where made during workshops at the Owl and the Pussycat in Florida.

Designer Fabric lined with heaving designer paper. This white book
is 5.50 x 9.00 and has 56 pages it has a bookmark attached to it and is decorated with a
beautiful button and copper corners.

Il s'agit d'isoler une image étampée et de la couvrir plusieurs fois de poudre à embosser transparente et de recouvrir le tout d'une couche de poudre transparente à la fin. J''ai déposé mon image principale sur une découpe embossée de Cuttlebug et granie d'une tour Eiffel miniature. Le fond de ma carte a été étampé avec la même étampe et encre de couleur bronze et recouvert d'une feuille de treillis.

I loved working this " Artisan Tile " Technique from TJ. I have placed the main image on an embossed cut out from Cuttlebug and stamped the main card stock with the same stamp and Bronze ink, it was then covered by a sheet of decorative paper. I love my little Eiffel Tower!

Bonjour!

Ce gentil père Noël a été réalisé pour répondre au Défi sketch carte de Magenta.
J'ai travaillé avec une technique de Magenta que j'aime beaucoup c'est à dire les stencils mais aussi les stencils fait à l'aide de Pell off de Magenta.
Mon Père Noël, une étampe de Stampit est retiré du marché ce qui le rend encore plus précieux!
Rubans, découpes et petites pierres Bling complètent le tout.
J'ai utilisé les encres Adirondack Cranberry et Denim. J'ai utilisé le Glossy accents pour donner du relief à mes découpes de pochoir .

This gorgeous Santa card (not my card but my stamps LOL) was done to enter a Sketch challenge from Magenta.
Here I used a tech from Magenta stencils from Peel off and their beautiful stencils
My Santa is a retired stamp from Stampit.
I used Adirondack inks in Cranberry and Denim for stencilling. I also used Glossy accents on my die cuts to add texture.
Ribbon, Bling and dies cuts (made from the stencil)

Cette semaine le défi de Simon dit (Simon Say's) consiste à utiliser les encres Distress de Tim Holtz... Ce fut assez simple pour moi puisque j'ai utilisé les cartes faites lors de mon dernier atelier avec Magenta. Une seule carte peut être inscrite au défi j'ai choisi la première qui est ma préférée. J'ai beaucoup aimé travailler avec les pochoirs, je pense que l'effet est unique. La deuxième carte est aussi faite en utilisant des Peel off comme stencil, j'ai beaucoup aimé cette technique simple mais qui laisse place à la créativité de chacune.

Encore un autre défi... Je trouve très stimulant ces défis que l'on retrouve un peu partout sur les blogs... Quoi de mieux quand les idées nous et qu'on a le goût de s'amuser!
Celui -ci s'intitule " Hidden image" soit image cachée... Ce qui m'a le plus plût dans ce défi c'est de renouer avec mes encres à l'alcool... J'ai tendance à oublier parmi tout le stock que j'ai certain outils qui sont bien agréable à travailler! Le principe de cette technique consiste à faire un fond avec 2 couleurs d'encre et d'étamper avec de l'encre argent ce qui fait que l'image est bien dissimulée. J'aime beaucoup le résultat!

C'est fait! Grâce à une bonne amie à moi j'ai appris à faire du " Iris Folding" et j'ai réalisé ce beau montage! Dites moi ce que vous en pensez!!!!

This is my Technique by design artwork. I've enjoyed doing this one, I especially loved doing the "Distress Glue" technique from Oct/Nov Technique Junkie Newsletter. I went to the Scrapfest Show in Oshawa last weekend and this is where I got this adorable Giraffe stamp.... I wanted to use it for this challenge. I'm pretty satisfied with the results.

A few close up of the Distress Glue Technique developed by Jane Bosi. Thanks Jane this is fun to do and provides beautiful background!

Un autre défi... J'ai participé à ces défi c'est très stimulant et motivant...(même s'il n'y a pas de récompense)!
Celui-ci est Technique Junkie et le nom de la tech est Paper Tole , il s'agit de doubler certaines parties de l'étampe. Pour colorer j'ai utiliser mes Tombow...et j'ai utilisé le Diamond Glaze sur les parties doublées et je me suis rendu compte qu'il s'est produit un craquelé... merveilleux pour ce genre de dessin.

An other challenge... I love them it's stimulating! This one is from Technique Junkie (June 03). After coloring with my Tombows I have applied Diamond Glazed on the parts that have been doubled and realized that when it was dry it was crackled... great for this kink of stamp.

Voici ma participation au défi Magenta... Il est tellement mignon!

Réaliser avec une étampe Magenta (acheté chez Mimi à la carte) que j'ai peint avec mes crayons encre Tombow et que j'ai accentué en doublant le coeur, la tête et le pot. Un bout de ruban, des attaches et un fond réalisé avec des éponges et les encres " Distress " de Tim Holtz couleur, Worn lipstick, Peeled paint, Faded jeans et Vintage photo. Les tourbillons du bas ont été fait avec un pochoir de Magenta et l'encre Worn lipstick. Ma carte est prête à être affichée sur le Blog de Magenta . Souhaitez moi bonne chance!

Hello my friends
I just retuned from a nice vacation in the Georgian Bay. It's our last trip for this year!!!

Now that I'm back I wanted to try a few techniques from the "Technique Junkies Newsletter".
The first one I wanted to try is the "Ice Crystals" .... I love the technique but I don't like the scanning of it .... all the pinks are the same hue but when you look at it they seem all different.... :-((......!

I did not put the mixture on a plain color cardstock, instead I have used some watercolour ink splash (my tech) that I had to see if it would come out ok... the ice crystals are perfect I hope it will show on the picture.

Once a month Technique Junkie group has a Sketch by Design challenge. This issue"s sketch had a 5 -1/2" by 5-1/2" base card where we must have at least one of the TJ technique. Here is mine the Technique I decided to use is one of my favourite "Reinker Splash Tutorial" of the February/March 2008 TJ newsletter issue. As embellishment I used old buttons that I tinted with permanent ink and sown on a round piece of my Designer Paper.

I can't believe it ... I sold my first book today. In my post on " Bird Journal " I mentioned that I left the handmade book to a small shop for sale. I was hopping they would sell it but I was realistic!!!! Well they did and I can't tell you the feeling to know that someone loved my work enough to buy it... I never sold anything before.... it's hard for me to let go of what I create.

RE-CYCLE, RE-USE, RE-BIND are the key words in this project. Full of humor and whimsy, this “going green” project was such fun to style and build. The note book itself is done from a found packaging, the cover was reinforce and binded using the long stich. Instead of just shopping for what’s in the package, now I also shop for the packaging as well.

Part of art is taking a mundane object and turning it to an unexpected, inventive purpose. That’s just what I’ve done with kitchen countertop samples that take on a new life as very beautiful book covers. The cover has been decorated with a metal and glass birdhouse. Some inside pages have been embellish with bird theme stamps.
I used the 4-needle Coptic stich and it is 3½ x 5 inches and has 32 pages.

It is now for sale at " Une rivière de trésors " a very nice art/craft shop in Rivière-Ouelle, Québec!

This winter while I was in Florida I took classes at the Owl and the Pussycat stamp boutique, Regina is a wonderful artist and makes the most beautiful Art projects. Among those is "handmade artbooks".... I never thought I would become so passionate about this, at first it even scare me it seemed so complicated. But, with Regina as a teacher and lots of patience I overcame my fears and am now mad about those.

The one you can see above " Sheer Delight" is my first, the it is done with the Coptic stitch, the cover and back is made of several layers of fabric and ornaments it has a Vintage look. It's a book of 8½ X 6 and has 64 writing/decorating pages.

I have an other one completed and will post it soon.

It does not mean I will stop my Cardmaking but I will combine these two form of art.

They say it's never to late to keep promises... well it took me a while but finally I am now taking some time to update my Blog... and, believe me I will try to never let it go for sooooo long.

During the winter I have not been very active in card making. We where in Florida for 3 month and manage to take a cruise through that... It was awesome!!!

Simple but fun cards where done using TJ technique " Faux Designer Paper " (12-08). I did a full sheet and used it to make several cards.

EXPLORER OF THE SEAS

SO MANY GORGEOUS POOLS!!!

OH WOW... what a nice way to craft!!! I was on a cruise to Bermuda with Zana Clark ( Stamp Zia and Jackie Shenise. We have been cruising with Royal Caribbean's EXPLORER OF THE SEAS a great boat of 13 storey...! I'm happy to say that I passed the test I'm not seasick... LOL! Once arrived we where happy to set foot on Mother Earth.... LOL and off I was to Hamilton on a visiting/shopping tour!

Zana and Jackie, two wonderful ladies, had very interesting and nice workshops planned for us! I also had the opportunity to meet with great crafter ladies so... HI to Deana, Gloria and Connie...! With Zana we worked with liquid spray watercolor and crayon (the one I'm not finished yet). We worked on a Silk fan with liquid spay watercolors, masks and stamps.... Love it! Also done with watercolor spray is Sea life Sphere.

In a mingle of one of my groups we had "Collage" as a theme... Although I have many Collage stamps, for me collage refers to ATC... Funny but I realized that I have never used an image when card making. So, I chanllenged myself to realize not 1 but 3 different cards with the same image.

I tried the Water Color Distress (February/March 2007) thechnique from Technique Junkie. I used the Distress Ink pads from Rangers.

Double bugging...

Yes again another technique from TJ and, again I'm using my embossing folder to create these cards. I guess you could say that I like playing with these :-)) This one is Double Bugging from the TJ June/July 2009 newsletter. It is simple and fun to do ... As long as you match 2 embossing folders or embossing plates that go well together, you can create very interesting backgrounds or even use it as the main feature of you card as I did in these 2 cards. I use my Adirondack inking pads and go over the texture left by the first embossing folder and when I'm done with the second embossing folder I use a painting brush and my Adirondack inking pads to apply color. I tried different ways to apply color but find that this way goes well for me. When I want very subtle colors I use Chalks instead of inks. Add a complementary pattern paper or embossed cardstock, ribbons, brads ... ET VOILÀ!

I like very much playing with my embossing folders and TJ has enough techniques to satisfy me.

This one is the Cuttlebug Glow and it's a lot of fun to do! It gave me the opportunity to use one of my brand new ones "Ornamental Iron" the background and die cut are from it.

When I think that making ATC is what lead me to making cards, and was such a great passion for me, passion... gosh I should say addiction .... I can't believe that I don't make ATC anymore or so few... Well, life changes so does our evolution through Art...

I do, once in a while participate in one of my groups monthly ATC lottery. For September I felt inspired by the theme... "alcohol inked, polished stone, caught in crystal, anything using alcohol ink". I love playing with Alcohol inks and the TJ smooch tech is one of my favorite! Thanks for stopping by!

Hello dear fellow artist. Well the summer is almost over and our vacation traveling too. I just got back to my studio and had all kink of ideas for new stamps that I bought this summer this is one of them. How could I resist to this tree stamp....! I decided on the Soused Suede technique from Technique Junkies for the background, the tree's colors are watercolor with Tombows markers and I added "Liquid Appliqué" to get a snow texture on the it, I just love the results.

An other fun technique. I used a brayer to apply color to my white card stock and applied a light coat of gesso , then added texture by running it through a Sizzix embossing folder I then sanded the gesso and went lightly over the texture with a coordinating ink color.

Another fun and this time easy technique from TJ... This technique is from Tricia Morris. You can use both watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils with great results. I used crayons, I think it's easier because crayons are softer than pencils.

I enjoyed doing this one and did it with a metal stencil, the ones we use with a light table to dry emboss... then I realize that in fact if you take a tick acetate you can draw your own design and cut it out to use as your unique stencil....!

The background first layer is gold foil paper this is what you see as black!!!

Hello my friends After thinking that I had gone wrong with this tech I finally realize that it is the way of looking at it that makes all the difference... when you scan it you see it flat, when you have it in your hands you see all the layers but at one point you do see the image as a whole... so if you haven't tried this TJ tech yet go ahead it's beautiful ... lots of cutting but it's worth it...!!! Hello

I love this card... it's a nice TJ technique called "Depth of Field" by Dee Ruger. The images are layered on the cardstock to create the illusion of depth. Bold images are necessary with this technique to achieve the proper results. The texture of the orange layer has been added with a Fiskar texture plate, unfortunately it does not show on the scan!

Ink used: Sail boat blue, Sunset orange, Antique Pewter.

Stamps:butterfly from Indadinkado, wording unknown :-(

It would of been better to have a lighter grey but I went with what I had...!

Has a mom and a Mamie I cannot keep this secret... LOL! My baby daughter Véronique (35) gave birth to the most beautiful little girl... (of course she is beautiful she is ours!!!).

ANABEL was born in Montréal on Wednesday June 10 at 9:59 and she weighted 8 pounds 14 onces...! For a first one it was not easy!

So I'm proud to present who is one day old on this picture. I now have one more little sunshine!

It's been a while since I've done ATC... when I think how many I did and all the groups I used to belong to, it's weird how we change... but needless to say that I still love doing those little pieces of art. A 2½ X 3½ working surface can be very challenging!!!

These have all been done with Tim Holtz's stamps. The technique I used is one I love very much Reinker Splash (2-08) of Technique Junkie with some little additions... like peal X and ink dabbing.
